Pace Communications Takes Home 18 Pearl Awards

Greensboro, NC (November 14, 2008)—Pace Communications, a leader in developing and marketing custom magazines and online solutions for leading brands, received 18 awards last night at the Custom Publishing Council’s Pearl Awards ceremony in New York. The annual event recognizes the best in design, digital, editorial and strategic initiatives for B2B and consumer custom publications. Pace competed with more than 70 companies representing six countries for the nationally recognized awards.

Pace Communications Selected by Verizon Wireless to Produce Retail Promotional Materials

Greensboro, NC (October 31)—Pace Communications, the leading custom publisher in the United States, has been selected by Verizon Wireless to develop a new generation of consumer and business magalogs, brochures and retail collateral materials. The suite of publications and guides, distributed nationally to businesses and consumers through Verizon Wireless’ network of retail outlets, is being re-designed by Pace. The new guides will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores beginning in the first quarter of 2009.

Pace Names New Group Publisher of Inflight Media

Grensboro, NC (April 1, 2008)—A leader in creating custom content, Pace Communications has named a new member to its management team. Rik Gates joins Pace on March 31, 2008, as group publisher, Pace Airline Media. Gates brings a background in advertising sales and international business. He worked the last six years at Business Week, where he was New York regional ad director and vice president for international sales. A Canadian native, he began his career in banking in Toronto, then spent 11 years — from 1991 to 2002 — working overseas. He developed English language curricula in Japan, then worked in sales for Time, Inc. in Hong Kong, Singapore, and London.

Custom Publisher Dominates Annual Ceremony with 18 Winning Publications in 14 Categories

Judged by the CPC and its panel of esteemed judges, the Pearl Awards celebrate excellence in journalism, graphic design, publication packaging and the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies for B2B and consumer custom publications. The November 8th ceremony was held at the Rainbow Room in New York City, and awards were presented by Dr. Samir Husni, Chair, Journalism Department at University of Mississippi and Mediabistro founder Laurel Touby.

Greensboro, NC (July 30, 2007)—Pace Communications, the world’s largest private custom publishing company, bested itself at this year’s 19th annual APEX Awards. With 29 awards for excellence, the company topped its own achievement of 23 awards at APEX 2006. While Pace stalwarts Delta Sky, AAA Living, and Hemispheres continue to garner acclaim, the custom publisher also won big for new titles, including Winterthur Magazine, CollegeReady, and Renaissance Magazine. The Annual Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition celebrate the best business publications from corporate, nonprofit, agency and independent settings, with honors going to those achieving unique distinction. APEX 2007 received 871 entries, from which judges ultimately selected 114 winners.

US Airways Magazine Experiences Record Growth
Nothing but blue skies ahead for the award-winning in-flight

Greensboro, NC (June 28, 2007)—While many magazines are struggling to attract and retain readers, US Airways Magazine is bucking the trend.  The publication—produced by Pace Communications, the world’s leading inflight magazine publisher—is experiencing record growth, according to recently-released MRI data.  The 2007 MRI Spring Study reports that US Airways Magazine saw 71% audience growth between Fall 2006 and Spring 2007, with readership increasing from 1.5 million to 2.6 million. This was the largest increase of all MRI-measured magazines in the study.
